Our original intention was to develop and market enhanced seat and interior upgrade packages for the 1/144 scale Revell and Dragon Boeing 747 plastic model kits, as they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to accuracy and detail in this facet. This stemmed from a love of cutaway models and a desire to resume and share a hobby once enjoyed back in the day.
To advertise and promote this product line, we envisioned a website where modellers could meet to obtain and exchange information, all in a spirit of camaraderie, as well as place orders. The trick, though, was to come up with a unique, compelling draw, and in this regard, what could be better than actual 747 cabin information and details from a collection of images, postcards, brochures, leaflets and other memorabilia? So began our quest to acquire requisite material from various sources.
Then one day, it dawned on us. Why restrict ourselves to the 747? Before long, we concluded that an extensive airliner cutaway website, with a wide open array of aircraft models and airlines, would be ideal, and extremely appealing to commercial aviation enthusiasts, not just model-makers. That was the beginning of Airlinercutaways.com, and long days on eBay and Google.
In September and October 2012, we identified two more non-existent product concepts from our memorabilia acquisition activities. One concerns postcards, the other, a more simplified, albeit attractive, cutaway model format for both modellers and ready-to-display model crowd.
Our time at a premium, and aviation postcards requiring far less manufacturing inputs than cutaway model counterparts, we have decided to focus our limited energy and resources on those for the present, until such time additional capital and manpower is available to add the model product line to the mix as well.
Now we realise many of you would love to know more about our brilliant, simplified cutaway model line. However, it would not be prudent to let the cat out of the bag until product is readily available. Nevertheless, be assured that day will come, and we'll advise you accordingly going forward.
